Teacher Comment:
Well done Tyce, a nicely presented Science Fair board. An interesting topic with a different spin by checking your pulse every 5 mins to see the effect of the energy drinks. Your method was simple to follow and great to see you using water as your control, but you needed to carry out your experiment again to ensure accuracy of your results as your water result on a child was very weird! Good detailed discussion of your results, which were very interesting and surprised me! Nice use of graphs to display your result. You have carried out some excellent research into blood pressure and the heart and what your pulse is. Well done Tyce.

Student Comment:
I really enjoyed making my science fair and carrying out all of my tests and of course drinking the drink but after i had drunken the drink it wasn't that pleasant because I got fevers and didn't feel that well, I think I could of carried out the experiment 1 or 2 more times, I think I did a really good job and I hope I get through to the school finals.

Today we wen to the Science lab 2 and tried out some cool experiments they had 25 experiments lined up for us. My partner was josh, i think our favorite was this one were you put your right hand in freezing cold ice and your left hand in a hot bowl of water but not to hot and you do that for 30 seconds and once you have done that you put your hands into a normally bowl of water for 30 seconds and the freezing cold one should go hot.

Friday 13 May

When we went into the science lab there was some pretty cool experiments set up for us there were five materials at the time and we had to guess what they were without touching them or smelling or tasting them the things that we had to guess what they were was...
  • Icing suger
  • cornflower
  • Creme of tarter
  • baking soda
  • salt
we had to discover what they were using the following
  • litmus paper (red and blue)
  • iodine
  • vinegar
And yeah you get the picture A was creme of tarter B was salt C was cornflower D was icing sugar E baking soda.

WALT - Identify and group fingerprints into 3 main categories : arch, loop and whore

Wednesday 18th May 2011

AIM - To identify your own fingerprints out of an arch, loop and whorl.

HYPOTHESIS I think my finger prints are whorl I think this because I looked ant my finger on the projector screen then looked at mine and i thought that I'm looked like Whorl.

EQUIPMENT Pencil, paper, sticky tape

METHOD 1 Rub the side of the pencil lead back and forth on a sheet of paper to build up the black area large enough to take 10 prints.
2 Press one your fingertips firmly onto a black. Place the sticky side of a piece of tape over your fingertip.(you may need a friend to held you with this)
3 Tape the print to the correct location on the fingerprint form.
4 Using the magnfiing glass compare your prints to the pictures above and try.
to

label them as either arches, loops or whorls.
